Flat rate, any address in Canada · free over $5,000

An engine is a 150–300 kg freight shipment, and real carrier cost swings by hundreds of dollars with destination. We average it into one flat $299 rate so you see the landed cost at checkout instead of waiting on a quote. It is one $299 charge per order, so parts added to an engine ship at no extra cost.

Estimated delivery times

How long does delivery take?

Total delivery time is made up of two stages: handling time at our Delta warehouse, and transit time with our freight carrier once your order is dispatched.
1–2 DaysHandling timeBefore dispatch
1–5 DaysTransit timeAfter dispatch
2–7 DaysTotal delivery timeOrder to delivery

Handling time is 1–2 business days and transit time is 1–5 business days, for a total delivery time of 2–7 business days from the date your payment clears to the date it arrives, depending on your location in Canada. British Columbia, Alberta and the Fraser Valley are generally at the faster end of this range, while Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada and remote or northern postcodes sit at the longer end.

Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. Weekends and holidays are not counted. Orders that clear payment before 12:00 PT on a business day are generally processed for dispatch the same day. You receive a carrier tracking number by email once your order has been dispatched.

Transit figures are carrier estimates, not guarantees. Weather, ferry sailings and terminal congestion can add days, and we tell you as soon as we know. Northern and remote destinations sit at the long end of the range.

How pickup works

Order online or by phone

Select local pickup at checkout, or call us. No freight charge applies.

We prepare your unit

Inspected, palletised and photographed. We email you when it is ready – normally 1–2 business days.

Collect during opening hours

Bring your order confirmation and photo ID, and a vehicle that can take a palletised engine.

Load and go

We load with the forklift. Tie-down straps and safe transport are your responsibility.

ImportantPlease do not travel to the warehouse before you receive your “ready for pickup” email. Units are typically prepared within 1–2 business days of payment confirmation, and an engine that has not been pulled and palletised yet cannot be loaded onto your truck.
How we prepare your order

Packaged for road freight

Engines are heavy, awkward and expensive. Every unit leaves the building prepared for a freight network, not a parcel belt.
Palletised & strapped

Each unit is drained where required, bagged, seated on a hardwood pallet, shrink-wrapped and ratchet-strapped so nothing shifts in transit. Loose accessories are boxed, labelled and banded to the same pallet so your order travels as one shipment.

Pre-dispatch inspection

Every complete engine is inspected before it ships. The pallet is photographed from all sides and those photographs are kept on file against your order, so there is a record of the condition it left in.

Automotive freight carriers

Engines move LTL freight through carriers who handle automotive and industrial equipment daily, not general parcel networks. Parts ordered alongside an engine travel on the same pallet. Parts-only orders ship by courier with a tracking number by email.

Freight damage

What to do if your unit arrives damaged

Careful packaging removes most of the risk, but freight damage occasionally happens. Reported within 48 hours, it is straightforward to resolve. Reported late, it usually is not.
Do not sign before you inspect

Carriers will not let you unwrap a pallet before you sign, so inspect the outside of the crate with the driver present. Write any damage on the delivery receipt before signing. A clean signature releases the carrier from liability and neither they nor we can recover the loss afterwards.

If you discover concealed damage after unwrapping – damage that was not visible from outside the packaging – contact us within 48 hours of delivery. Do not install or run the unit if you suspect internal damage from transit.

Email info@cowichansmallengines.ca with your order number, photographs of the damage and a description of the issue. We manage the freight claim with the carrier on your behalf and keep you posted on progress. Resolutions include replacement from stock, repair, or a full refund depending on the nature of the damage.

Inspect on delivery

Check the wrap, the pallet and the crate for visible damage before the driver leaves. Note anything you find on the delivery docket before you sign.

Photograph everything

Clear photos of the pallet from all four sides, any damage to the packaging, and the unit itself once unwrapped. Keep all packaging materials.

Contact us within 48 hours

Email your order number, the photos and a description. We need notification within 48 hours of delivery to open a carrier claim in time.

Do not install the unit

If there is visible structural damage, do not fit or run the engine until the claim has been assessed. Installing it ends the claim and your warranty.

We manage the claim

We liaise with the carrier on your behalf and update you on the outcome – replacement, repair or refund.

Common questions

Shipping questions answered

How much does it cost to ship an engine?

$299 flat to any address in Canada, whatever the engine and wherever you are. Orders over $5,000 ship free. It is one $299 charge per order, so parts added to an engine ship at no extra cost. Local pickup in Delta is free, and the cost is shown at checkout before you pay.

What is the handling time, transit time and total delivery time?

Handling time is 1–2 business days, transit time is 1–5 business days, for a total delivery time of 2–7 business days, Monday to Friday, from when your payment clears.

Do you ship to all provinces and territories?

Yes. The $299 flat rate covers every Canadian province and territory, including Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut, where delivery is to the nearest carrier terminal.

Will I receive a tracking number?

Yes, by email as soon as the carrier collects. Engines move LTL freight, so expect terminal scans rather than a live map. If tracking has not moved for two business days, send us your order number and we will chase the carrier.

Can I pick up instead of having it delivered?

Yes, free of charge at 7188 Progress Way, Delta BC. Wait for the “ready for pickup” email before you drive over, and bring straps.

I have no forklift. How do I get it off the truck?

Ask for liftgate service when you order and the carrier lowers the pallet to ground level for an additional fee. Without it the driver is not obliged to unload and a re-delivery charge applies.

Do you ship internationally?

To the United States and beyond on request, quoted per order to the nearest port or terminal · the flat rate is Canada only. The receiver is the importer of record and covers duties, taxes and brokerage.

Can I change my delivery address after ordering?

Yes, if you tell us before the carrier collects. Once the shipment is moving a redirect is charged by the carrier and passed on at cost.

What happens if my engine arrives damaged?

Note it on the delivery receipt before signing, photograph the pallet, and contact us within 48 hours. We manage the carrier claim and resolve it by replacement, repair or refund.
