What you are covered for

Every complete engine and transmission we sell carries a 6-month parts warranty from the date of delivery. It covers internal mechanical failure of the unit we supplied – block, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, cylinder head, valvetrain, and the internal gears, shafts and bearings of a transmission. If a covered unit fails, we replace it with an equivalent from stock or refund what you paid for it, and we pay the freight both ways.

Accessories, body panels, electrical components and used parts sold individually carry 30 days from delivery. Anything listed as sold as-is or for parts carries no warranty, and the product page says so plainly before you buy.

This is a parts-only warranty

We cover the unit, not the job

Our liability is limited to replacing the unit or refunding its purchase price. We do not pay for installation labour, removal and refitting, diagnostic time, towing, rental vehicles, lost earnings, downtime or any other consequential cost. Budget for the possibility of a second install before you commit – this is standard across the used-import trade, and any seller telling you otherwise is not being straight with you.

What you must do at installation

These are conditions of coverage, not suggestions. A used engine that has been sitting needs its service items renewed before it runs, and skipping them is the most common reason a claim gets declined.

  • Replace the timing belt or chain kit, tensioners and idlers before first start.
  • Replace the water pump, thermostat and all external seals and gaskets.
  • Change the oil and filter with the correct grade, and fill with fresh coolant.
  • On a transmission, replace the filter and fluid and flush the cooler lines.
  • Have the work done by a licensed mechanic or repair shop and keep the itemised invoice. A claim needs it.
  • Check for and correct the fault that killed the original engine before fitting ours – a failed radiator or bad ECU will take the replacement out too.

What is not covered

  • Wear and service items: belts, hoses, gaskets, seals, water pumps, thermostats, spark plugs, filters, clutch, sensors and injectors.
  • Bolt-on accessories supplied with the unit as a courtesy – alternators, starters, power steering pumps, air conditioning compressors, manifolds and turbochargers where fitted. These come as-is unless the listing states otherwise.
  • Damage from overheating, oil starvation, running the wrong fluids, detonation or fuel contamination.
  • Faulty installation, incorrect timing, or damage caused by another failed component in the vehicle.
  • Labour, freight on non-approved claims, towing, storage, rental vehicles and consequential loss.
  • Cosmetic condition. These are used imports – expect surface marks, faded paint and Japanese-market fittings.

What voids your warranty

Do not disassemble before you call us

Opening the engine before we authorise it ends your coverage, even if the fault turns out to be genuine. We need to inspect the unit as it failed, or arrange for an independent shop to do so. One phone call first protects your claim.

  • Disassembly, teardown or internal repair without our written authorisation.
  • Skipping the timing kit, water pump, seals or oil change at installation.
  • Use in racing, drifting, track days, competition or any motorsport.
  • Forced-induction added to a naturally aspirated engine, or any increase in boost, compression or rev limit.
  • Tuning, chipping or remapping the engine management.
  • Continuing to run the engine after a fault, warning light or loss of oil pressure appears.
  • Removal, alteration or defacing of the engine identification stamp or our inventory tag.
  • Installation by anyone other than a licensed shop, or an install with no invoice to show.

How to make a claim

Stop running the engine as soon as a fault appears and contact us within 48 hours of discovering it. Continuing to drive turns a repairable fault into a destroyed unit and takes it outside coverage.

What you get if a claim is approved

We choose, at our discretion, between two remedies: an equivalent replacement unit from stock, shipped at our cost, or a full refund of the purchase price of the unit. Where a replacement is sent, the balance of the original 6-month term carries over to it – the clock does not restart. We pay the return freight on the failed unit and the outbound freight on the replacement.

The failed unit must come back to us, palletised and strapped, before a refund is released. We will arrange the carrier and send you the paperwork.

Who the warranty covers

Coverage runs to the original purchaser and the vehicle the unit was installed in. It is not transferable if you sell the vehicle or the engine on. Coverage applies within Canada; on units exported outside Canada the warranty is limited to a refund of the purchase price with freight at the customer's cost.

Five steps to a claim

Stop and call us

Within 48 hours of the fault appearing. Do not keep driving and do not open the engine.

Send us the paperwork

Order number, the installation invoice from your shop, the date it went in, and what the engine is doing. Photos or a short video of the symptom help.

We authorise an inspection

Usually a compression and oil-pressure test at your shop, or an independent inspection we arrange. We tell you in writing what we need.

Decision in writing

Normally within two business days of receiving the test results. If declined, we tell you exactly why.

Replacement or refund

An equivalent unit shipped at our cost, or a refund of the purchase price once the failed unit is back with us.

Warranty questions

Does the warranty cover the cost of fitting the engine?

No. It is a parts-only warranty – we replace the unit or refund it, but installation labour, removal, refitting and diagnostic time are yours. Factor a possible second install into your budget.

Do I really have to replace the timing belt and water pump?

Yes, and it is a condition of coverage. These engines have often sat in a container or a yard; a belt that looks fine can fail in a week and take the valvetrain with it. Skipping it is the most common reason a claim is declined.

Can I install it myself?

You can, but the warranty requires installation by a licensed mechanic or shop with an invoice to show. A home install without documentation cannot be covered.

What about the alternator and starter that came with it?

Those are supplied as a courtesy and come as-is with no coverage, unless the listing specifically says otherwise. Plan on testing or replacing them.

Does the warranty restart on a replacement engine?

No. The balance of your original 6 months carries over to the replacement unit.

I am using the engine for track days. Am I covered?

No. Racing, drifting, competition and track use void coverage entirely, as does adding or raising boost, or remapping the ECU.

How long does a claim take?

We aim to give you a written decision within two business days of receiving your test results, and to ship a replacement the same week it is approved.
